Birthday 2023

You are cordially invited to my forthcoming birthday celebrations over the weekend of 18th/19th February. Partners welcome, of course.

SATURDAY 18TH

Tankards, glasses and mugs at the slant from 11:15 in the Crosse Keys on Gracechurch Street in the City. As you enter look to your left and work round the room clockwise until you find us. I don’t expect the place to be busy.

5 minutes from Monument (Circle/District/Northern line) underground

Lunch at 1 pm at the Sugarloaf on Cannon and Queen Street.

If you are coming to the Sugarloaf, please let me know before Monday 13th so that I can confirm places with the pub. For the Crosse Keys just turn up.

SUNDAY 19TH

Lunch at the Angel on the river in Bermondsey.

We shall be walking via the Thames Path from London Bridge station. Meet at 12 noon (sharp!) outside the station on the upper level on the concourse outside the Red Wood sports pub. We’ll get to the Angel a little after 1pm for lunch. If you are not joining the Walk then transport links are below.

15 minutes walk from Rotherhithe Overground (head for the river and turn left/west/upstream).
Bus 47 or318 to Southwark Park (after alighting, walk back towards London Bridge, right into Cathay street and keep going until the pub hoves in view
). Both buses run from London Bridge.
Bermondsey station is closed as Jubilee Line not running.

If you are coming, please let me know ASAP so that I can confirm places with the pub as tables may be limited.

LATE AT THE START?

Catch us up by going to the river then east/right/downstream. The pub is on the riverfront.

  • No strikes are scheduled
  • TFL – some lines part closed – find out more
  • Jubilee line closed on the Sunday.
  • Obviously please check for National Rail closures.
  • Some of you are coming from Croydon. Services to London Bridge (and thence to Cannon Street for Saturday) are expected to be running as normal.
